Why I Stopped Teaching Singing

Good friends,

It's been months since we spoke. I am learning so much about myself! PATIENCE has never been my strength...but, boy, am I learning how to embrace slow change.

I am sending a quick 3 min and 30 second video update to say hello and clear up confusion about where I've been.....

The main takeaway: I am becoming my true self. And that is mad scary. But ultimately so good.

I am, and always have been, an artist. There ain't nothing I can do about it.

(Can anybody relate to this?)

What's taking me so long then??? Whelp. When I emerge from this hiatus I want to make sure that EVERYTHING I create is 100% aligned with who I am.

In the darkest corners of my mind and heart, there has always been a scared person hoping for validation.

And when it comes to creating art and music, I DO NOT want to put out songs or materials that are asking for approval. It's not about the likes, the numbers, or the compliments. It's about truth, connecting, and sharing out of love. FINALLY.
I know I can do it, but making changes to the way I think and see myself is not easy, or fast. I've been teaching you all to honor yourselves and your voices, and I am finally doing the same for myself.
Here's the video if you'd like a peek. Please excuse the messy office 🙂
Oh, and please leave me a comment. It's so nice to hear from old friends.

I totally get what you're saying, Felicia. After years in the tribute industry singing as a celebrity impersonator I'm finally starting to sing as myself. It was easier to just "be" Barbra Streisand or Celine Dion. I figured nobody knows me, so getting gigs would be harder. That's true, but you do reach a point where you have to find your own voice and get out there.

Best of luck and blessings to you on your journey!

    • Peter Maarsman

      Hi FeliciaL

I know what you are going through. I have just been Hacked and what an experience that has been tying to change all my passwords and stop anybody else talking to me. What a great experience you have had. It must be wonderful trying to find yourself. As far as I am concerned I have been so busy going over your singing program that I didn't notice you were gone. What a great program you have created for us. You are truly a magician, What a lot of material you have covered. I keep going over the Program many times tying to get it right.

I Wish you all the success in your new profession and happy to hear you are trying to get a new singing program started.

    • James Gordon

      Hi Felicia!!

You've helped me move from having a good voice to being a good singer. Thank you!!

In a way, I see you moving from being a voice finder to being (by example) a truth finder.
I really appreciate your encouraging spirit and humbly encourage your highest, fullest expression.

Synchronicity turns me on as much as singing. I had a conversation this afternoon about almost exactly what you spoke of in your 'what's going on with me' video. I came home this evening. checked email, watched your video and wow! Even some identical phrases. (Life is so cool!)

Thanks for leaving your tips, tricks and videos up.
I re-watch and refer others to this site often.

      I wish you the best,

    • Bonnie Keen

Felicia, you are absolutely hands down the best vocal finder and communicator about the human voice I've seen anywhere.
I've been a successful recording artist, vocalist and writer for over 35 years in Nashville.
Unexpectedly, vocal coaching came into my work a few years ago - an unexpected addition to a diverse career.
      YOUR input has been invaluable.
      You speak the actor-pop-vocalist language.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Go forth and dive into on all you have ahead.
      You are a treasure.

Godspeed and much favor in this new season!!

    • Melissa Newman

Have really enjoyed your technique, Totally meshes with excellent teaching I have had before (opera)... Now happily singing Jazz, and often asked to teach, (both art and singing) kids in urban areas, even several years at a correctional facility, places where there is no one else to do it. I'm not really a teacher, technically speaking, but I have passion and COMpassion. Your advice has been immeasurable in helping me to articulate the basics I need to teach (and in reminding myself about healthy technique!). AND I still have access to all that info when I need it...

At this point am deciding that all of my drawing and writing and sculpting and singing comes from the same place! JUST DO IT!!!Have fun, and thanks again for all the help!

  • Jake

You have to follow what your heart dictates you!
Whether as an artist/performer, or a teacher, you are such a great wonderful person!
101% percent i will support you and right now greatly appreciate your sincerity and devotion!
No offense, i love your eyes and the mystic smile!
God Bless you to all of your endeavours!

    Respectfully yours,

  • jill goldman

hi fel, i totally get it, totally understand, been there, in a similar situation, making a similar decision, and i know how hard it is. you are smart to take the time to focus, to figure it out, to do what you want to do. i fully support your path! i hope you'll continue to feel free, at peace, ready for the next phase. take good care of yourself, and do keep us posted as you are ready. thank you for all you have done for us online with your videos, your teaching, your positive energy. happy new year, jill

  • Dina

Thank you for the update, Fel! I sooooo hear where you're coming from. The realization I was coming from a place of wanting validation is one of the main reasons I don't perform anymore BUT you helped me bring it back from a whole place when I took your course (singing in my church choir.)

Anyhow, that being said, you certainly are a very talented teaching artist. I had voice lessons on and off for years and nothing clicked for me until I took your courses. Not trying to convince you of anything, but not everyone has that skill as a teacher (most don't) so it is or was definitely part of your karma here, too.

I look forward to seeing your music. Have a happy, joyful, and abundant New Year!

  • Susan Guerard

Hi Fel! I love your honest and openness. You are an inspiration no matter what you choose to do. im glad your videos are still up because you have a different approach than my voice instructor and I think between the two of you i will find my voice ...the one dreamt of at 4 years old. Enjoy the ride I am and im twice your age. Yes, you are an artist and I couldn't understand why you would want to perform. You are so amazingly talented! I dont say nice things to people unless i mean it. Happy New year!!! From Providence

  • Anderson, Linda

Words of encouragement for you! I, too, am a vocal coach who has put aside performing (for the most part) but I still need to perform.

Please don’t say you are now “just” a performer/songwriter! That is plenty and enough! Say you are now “focusing” on your songwriting and performance. There is no need for “just” in your explanation!!

Stay the course! We love hearing from and about you!!

  • Karen Walker

I don't know if this is similar but I'm currently studying engineering and I find the technical side so much easier than the creative side. If an assignment is to design something, I procrastinate for ages but I get there in the end. I hope it goes well for you - you have given so much to us. x

  • Jill McKissack

Congratulations Fel on your journey to your dreams. While I have missed you so much I am even happier for you. It's never easy to try something new or go in a new direction, but when that journey is to honor your truth the trip is so worth. At times it may be frustrating and at times even scary but your Oz is waiting. Remember this, we will still be here when you're ready....

  • Julie

    Hey Felicia,

It’s so awesome that you are following your inner needs to fulfill the person you truly are and meant to be. Its taken me many years introspection, failures and insights for me to find my true path and worth and I now feel clear excited and sure Im on the right track. I’m so glad to have been part of your journey and grateful to have benefited from your amazing tuition. Life is a journey that’s not meant to be half lived- go you good thing and follow your hearts desire! X Julie

  • Kayla sheffield

I'm so happy for you Fel. Being true can be so hard and I feel akitbod us struggle with the same thing. I personally adore you and I'm proud to see you bettering yourself for /YOU/. I love you lady, hang in there!

  • Eva

    Hi Fel,
thanks for sharing with us where you are currently on your new journey.
You are an amazing person and make this world a better place!
Looking forward to hear your songs! 🙂
    Best wishes,

  • Jackie

You really remind me of myself and you inspire me! This is a wake up call for me as well, because I was really starting to struggle with my singing and music career that I was trying to build. I would feel like sure maybe I have a nice voice, but it's not enough and I was looking for that outside validation. I even worked on writing some of my own songs and had the bravery to post them and I didn't always get the validation I was hoping for. I totally agree that it's about connecting your true self in the music. That's a lesson I'm working on and who knows maybe that can be something to teach others one day! I can't wait to see your future videos.

  • Anne Sheets

You are beautiful, talented and such a giving person. I'm glad you made the decision to put your dream first!

Through your teachings, I have gained confidence to sing and my range and flexibility have both improved. I continue to work on my singing and enjoy conquering the many challenges. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and delivering it in such a meaningful way.

Go for it! You have to use the gifts you were given and God gave you many. I wish you much success and happiness on your new path.

  • Cathy

Bravo, Felicia! It's time to do it. Time to start living your own life. Yep, hard. Let's all do a hard thing. I look forward to hearing about your next steps. And thank you so much for all the great tips, lessons, suggestions, encouragement, and silly jokes.

  • Alua

Hello gorgeous!! You are very missed but you have dedicated many many years to helping others and now it's time for you to take care of you. I listen to your last class daily because they're still areas I'm struggling with, however you helped me overcome major hurdles and I only wish the best for you and look to hearing more from you in about you as you pursue this next phase in your life

  • Cody Groves

    Hey Felicia,

I too was searching my heart and working through my fears. This is something I posted on my facebook when I felt like I had worked through it. Maybe it will help you on your journey of artistry and connection.

“One love. For those of you who have known me in my adult life you know that I have a tatoo on my left hand that says Love with the infinity symbol under it. I got that tatoo in hopes to remind me to love everyone as much as I can. However im not sure thats right. Let me explain.

If you have a pot made of clay how do you destroy it? You smash it. And break it into a million pieces. Honestly I think this is Satans aim for humanity. To destroy us by separating us through things like, pride, arrogance and hate.

I used to think the remedy to this situation is to love everyone as much as I could. Keyword is “I”. I put all my effort into loving as MUCH as I could. Almost as if love was a status symbol and that I was good for doing it, or even better than others for doing it. This is pride and arrogance and I think its just another trick to separate us. My love is better than yours Gods love is better than mine etc. I was not necesarrily consious of this attitude but it was still there.

I think it would be better to see love as one thing. Something that we share and express together. Regardless of culture, religion, or beliefs. I think this is a more true apporach to living with love.”

I don’t know if its 100 percent accurate but maybe you will find some use for it. Anyway best of luck to you, thanks for the learning 🙂

  • Jo ellen

  • Greg Hoffmann

    Hi Fel,
I was hoping that you would stay in touch. You have given so much of your self to many of us.
I am so glad to get the chance to say thank you and to wish you the best.
    I look forward to your checking in once in a while...hah song cue;

Once in a while would you try to give one little thought to me
though someone else may be nearer your heart....

Well in this case something else may be nearer your heart.

Happy to see that your fun and informative videos are still available so we can stay on task.
And so we can keep you in our hearts.

As the old expression goes " don't forget to write [ in this case chat ] ".

All the best. Remember that you get what you give. So give it all ya got.

  • Adama

I can't wait to hear your music Felicia and to experience you as an artist! Sending you much love and support for your exciting journey! Love to you! Adama xXx

  • Rick

All I can say is "Good for you and GO FOR IT!" I love your introspection. Being an artist is hard, but it's who you are and we want to hear your work! You are also so articulate and it's like hearing from a friend. So good to hear from you again, friend! Looking forward to seeing what lies ahead for you! - Rick

  • Maria

I am so happy to hear from you and so happy for you!
I can totally relate to what you're talking about... Making my own debute EP at the moment and more then anything I want to stay true to who I am as a person and as an artist! I wish you all the best! Sending lots of love and support from Russia!

  • Cora

Hi Felicia! I'm very happy for you. I've been thinking about you and glad you're well.
You've helped me get to know my voice and develop confidence in singing. I've never identified as a singer. You're lazy singer warm ups are my go-to's and while I also don't want to perform for compliments, I have enjoyed receiving some compliments on my voice. I've only done this for a few months and people think I've done it for years. Patience isn't my strong suit either, so i'd like to get
to what I'd like to sound like yesterday.
If you'd ever like to co-write or I can help in any way, let me know!
    Wishing you all the best.

  • Alisha Rose

Totally relate!! Thanks for posting. It’s reassuring I’m not the only one experiencing this. I’m so glad you’re taking the time you need to make your art. It’s not something that should be rushed. It’s a delicate vulnerable process. I’ve been looking out for your originals for a while. You’re so talented I know whatever you release to the world will be wonderful. Go deep & take all the time you need. We’ll still be here. And when that times comes we’ll support you completely ((Hugs)) You rock Felicia!!

  • Bente Pedersen

So many congrats to you! Living your life trying to fullfill your inner needs and dreams is the biggest achivement of them all and not that easy at all. As a former teacher I know how much energy and engagement you have to put in the job to be as good and skilled as I have learned you to be, so I do understand that you must choose to follow what your inner voice is telling you. Otherwise you would be in danger of burning your candle in both ends. And your voice ends being just a whisper and that would must certainly be a pity!
    Best regards

  • Angela

Well done for taking this step, Felicia. It can take a long time to find out your heart's desire - what's really inside - and you're on that road. Good travelling. . .

  • Tree

So I just discovered your channel about a week ago because I decided to embark on this crazy journey on learning how to sing. I’ve been binge watching your videos so much that when people talk about great shows like Game of Thrones or Narcos or whatever, I’m like “Dudes! I’ve been watching this badass new show lately and it’s called Fel Ricci...ever heard of it?” They just look at me like ?. I don’t care though...love your videos and love the way you teach! Good luck with the new endeavor and just know that we (or at least I) will still be keeping your old vids in check and still learning how to do bluh bluh bluh BLUH BLUH BLUH bluh bluhhhhhh ??

  • Rickey Rankin

Hi Fel, I would like to wish you the best, and I know you will do the right thing. I also would like to thank you for everything you helped me do and find in myself. God bless you.

  • Ana Coutinho

    Dear Felicia,
You are amazing, and I'm so happy that you're following your heart.
I'm an artist, primarily a painter, that is living outside my country in my 50ths, so definitely: nobody knows me!
And I'm not good in social media, so imagine that!
But I need to tell that your work is sensible, you inspire people with your energy.
I bought one of your courses, and it is easy to follow and learn everything that you have for us.
I wish you an amazing 2018 and hope to hear from you soon.
    Love and thank you,

  • Mitch

I think what you are doing is brave and very cool. I can relate to the struggle of sharing the music without expectations about the likes and followers and the inner work it takes to break through. Your course has been invaluable and also impressive from an online marketing perspective but leaving it at its peak is really choosing the road less traveled and an true self affirmation. I'll look forward to hearing about your journey! Happy New Year, Mitch

  • John

    Fel -

So good to hear from you. Love your singing tips.
You remind me of my granddaughter, and I look forward to seeing both her and you blossom into the best that you can be.

    God Bless,

  • Ron

Great to see you and good to know that all the singing tip videos will be around for a while. Have you ever though of playing the ukulele with your creation and performance endeavors? That is my new journey this year making a huge shift from classical style guitar to singing with and instrumentals on the ukulele. Ukuleles at awesome! They are great for theory, playfulness, creativity ... So easy to stand and play with them.

    • Deryl Mogg

Interesting. I have been playing for about 6 years. I stumbled upon Fel's classes because I wanted to learn how to sing and accompany myself. Just google or utube ukulele, there are plenty of online tutorials. You might find a club near you or start your own. Don't be shy. It is happy music. I even play my uke on the bus going to work.

      Best wishes.

  • Uliana

Well, this email of your just blew my mind! Why? Because in a way it's what I have always been expecting and hoping for since I started following you. That leap of faith. Coz you already have everything else - the voice, the technique, the charisma. It's the perfect conclusion to your course - action! You say it's possible for us to do it and you're being a role model, like "let me show you, I also believe it's possible". This makes you the best coach ever! And thank you for everything you've done for me (coz even if you don't know, you did great things for me :-), pushing me to move, making me believe in my capacities, in my strength.
And I hope that all of us, your fans, will give you the support you need to make your dream come true! All the best to you in your journey! Live fully, embrace every success and even failure, coz as long as you move forward it's not the end. And I'll see you at some stadium soon (I'll be in the crowd applauding and cheering like crazy)!!!
    Much love!!!

  • Shenay

Hi Fel I totally get it! Thank you for your positivity. I wish you a wonderful adventure on your path of discovery. You are an inspiration and a beautiful soul shines through in your video. Always know you are special and a great artist/teacher.
All the very best in your journey. Lovely to hear from you.
    All the very best
    Big hugs to you
    Shenay Fraser

  • Joanie

    Hi Felicia,

First of all, thank you for all you have put out on You Tube in the teaching venue. You won't begin to understand how helpful it was for me to have a singer explaining things I needed to pass on to my African friends. I'm a violinist, not a singer so I don't have the knowledge you do for helping others in voice. What exercises and counsel you shared has been passed on so there has been a much wider influence of yourself to the world than you perhaps thought!
I do understand your personal needs and just say; "there's a time and place for everything". I have learned not to be afraid of different seasons of life, letting one thing go so something else can come.
Love your bubbly personality and the clear way you have taught.
Looking forward to seeing what is next for you.

  • jim

look at the i tunes top 100. The same people make songs over and over. Some of them stike out some make some money. Start doing that. Once you make enough money and people know you you will be able to perform on stage. Now, make the music. Make more music. Some will be lousy some will be great and they will make money for you. Start. and keep recording. Go

  • jeffrey t kepner

One reason I initially chose to subscribe to your singing program was because I checked out your online " Yale era"performances . I knew right then that you were my voice teacher - I have learned a great deal from you since and am a much better lead vocalist in my group and have helped others to sing better as well. God bless you and may you further your life's dreams.
    - Jeff

  • Dave

    Hi Felicia
First of all, thank you for helping my singing.
I am glad that you will be following your heart.
While in my 69 years in the planet, I’ve done much of which I am very proud, it is only recently that I have begun singing in public and for pay. Unlearning the “not good enoughs” is hard.
God bless and God speed. You’ll be terrific- you already are!

  • Beth Alfabeto

    Hi, Fel.
Congrats on finally finding your true self! Isn't it great? Some don't have this realization until they're middle aged. Best wishes on everything you do and hope to see you soon whether on your own channel or on a stage somewhere (The stage has missed you!). Here's to a smashing 2018!

  • Julie-Anne Ratcliffe

So good to hear an update from you! Timing 😉
I have written my first complete song over the last few days. Many years of bits of songs and now finally a whole one. I had four months off this year to refocus myself so I totally get what you are talking about.
So many of us are doing it - it's like a revolution ?
Much love to you Felicia, and many thanks for sharing your honesty and light xxx

  • Ron

    Hi Felicia,

I have only been following you for about a month but, wow! I am loving your videos.
I am 57 and just starting singing with 2 choirs this year and I am finding it hard work, learning to sing correctly and learning to read music too.

I have got so many of your videos to catch up with but, it looks like you have been doing it for a long time. I love your style and you make me laugh, which helps make teaching fun and interesting.

I am taking all of your tip on board and they a helping me a lot.

Thank you and good luck in your quest...enjoy yourself, have fun and live your dream.

    Kindest regards

  • michael muro

You have helped me vocally more than you will ever know , and yes I was disapointedwhen you decided to take a respite BUT.. You must Follow your Heart ! I totally agree with your direction.... and if you ever need a Professional Recording Engineer and Studio I am working with a Guy in ( NJ ) Who has produced and is currently recording several well known artists , shoot me an email if you ever need a recommendation .

    Michael ,

Fel, a life consists of good decisions, bad decisions, successes, failures, ups, downs, left turns and right turns. One day you'll look back and say " ya know, I should have done this or that." The point is you must move forward every day no matter what you are attempting. The only thing that holds us back is ourselves and if you look for the perfect time to attempt something, that moment will never come. You have to make your own opportunities, not wait for others to validate you.

To succeed at anything you need to acquire brass balls and make things happen. I am reminded of a saying. " man must wait a long time with mouth open waiting for fried duck to fly in!" If you are taking a fork in the road, by God, take it and burn rubber! Kick some ass, take names, and leave no prisoners.

    Hi Fel,
You are so fortunate that you have decided to be true to why you are here and what you’re here to do. I have worked in network TV, theater and live events from behind the curtain, constantly trying to suppress my desire to want to perform myself. Over the years I have played at sing and was constantly told about my great potential. I too have finally decided to work at my singing and push myself; not for the potential fame or adulation but to feel complete within myself. I just hope I haven’t waited to long. People like Susan Boyle inspire me and boast my hopes that it’s never to late if you’re willing to work, willing to be vulnerable, and willing to be who you truly are inspite of what other may say or do!
Rock on girl and always know that your gift, your message is truly needed and can help aid a troubled world!
    God’s speed my friend.
    Simply J

  • Carrie-ann Hudghton

I plan to embrace myself in 2018 just like you are doing now. For my entire life I have let fear dictate to me what I could do and I stopped me trying things I want to do. I slightly overcame that last year and in 2017 by going to college and doing my first ever HND level course at the age of 35. Even still, I let fear take over in other areas. Especially my singing. I stopped singing entirely for a while as I let negativity get to me and it full gave me the fear as I didn't want to hear what I was doing wrong as I kept taking it as, I suck. I started singing again about a week before Christmas and I intend to fully embrace it. I am learning film making and I want to incorporate music into it too. Fingers crossed my confidence grows and doesn't retreat again.

Glad your doing so well. Xxxx

  • David McKenzie

    Dear Fel,
Who ever you choose to be you have my vote. I have your back. Since taking your course I have improved with leaps and bounds. I'm not finished finding my voice yet but am much closer. I sing MUCH better and finally have the realization what it takes to perform well. Thank you so much for posting your course. Your talent knows no bounds.
Stay safe and Lords peace be with you.
    Love ya,

  • George

Wow, this video really felt like getting news from an old friend. I wish you the best on whatever path you choose and I want to thank you for getting me to the point where I started to take my singing seriously and decided to get a vocal coach. To me that was my awakening and a source of joy that you helped me find. Thanks again and good luck!

  • Bella B

    Go Fel!
So happy to hear that the track to your heart is emerging out of the jungly mess we call life. Am so looking forward to hearing your new material.
    Best of luck.

  • Jeanine

I was so happy to see this email in my inbox today, as I'd sort of worried you'd completely dropped off the grid since beginning this journey.
It was kind of a relief LOL. When you originally informed us all that you were beginning this new chapter in your adventure,
it definitely resonated with me as I've begun a similar journey not too long ago. Seeing you trudge on through inspires me as I move forward.
It's not always easy or pretty, but even though here are ups and downs I feel this sort of journey is absolutely worth it, and I'm glad you've taken the plunge and remain determined to express your vision authentically. (Sorry if that sounds a little 'heavy' LOL)

Your signing tips youtube videos and singing courses have really inspired and encouraged me.
I'll always be grateful for those, and I'm glad that those videos will still be there for us to continue to learn from.
You're an awesome teacher, and I look forward to seeing and hearing how you bloom into your own individual expression
    as an artist.

  • Eunice Eunbin

Love and always appreciate your honesty. I can relate a little to what you are going through. After focusing all my energy on school and work leaving no time for my creative pursuits, I felt so out of touch with myself. After taking some down time for myself in an effort to discover the true promptings of my heart, I realized how much I needed to sing, paint, create, express... the call cannot be ignored! I support your brave endeavors to realize your dream! Please keep us updated! It helps us follow our own paths too.

    Lots of love,

  • Michele Roberts

Felicia, congrats to you for taking the leap towards this next step in your journey. May you approach each new moment with wonder and joy and accept the bounty of blessings to come. Thank you for sharing your gift. I have enjoyed watching your videos, marveling at your talent and learning from you. I will continue to iearn and grow and can't wait to see how things unfold for you.

I am inspired by this announcement you're making!

  • Jonathan Gillespie

I've been warming up and practicing with you almost every day for three years. Thank you. It has helped me find my voice, or at least find a voice that I like much better. Maybe I'm still finding. And I love the way that you are so honest and open about your journey. And I'm glad that you have felt free to change direction. It encourages the rest of us. Thank you for the update; I think we feel a connection to you after all these morning warm-ups with you. Best wishes. Jonathan

  • Deryl Mogg

Congratulations Fel. From my perspective you have always been genuine to both yourself and us.

I am 63 years old and have just learned the ukulele (6 years now). Your lessons have helped me to find my voice and sing better too. I, like you, also like to perform and act and entertain, I should have done it years ago. I am not sure about you, or anybody else reading, but for me I have always had that inner voice saying things like: (I am not worthy, I cannot do it, I am going to fail, I am too scared). Kick that voice to the curb. Just Do It. (hope that I don't get a trademark infringement there.)

I have had the opportunity to perform in front of a hundred or so people but here is the thing, I am onstage, in the lights with a microphone. I have failed in the past, miserably, I know when I fail. But, 99 % of the people in the audience are thinking, (How does he do that?, I could never do that., OMG that is so impressive.) Well, they are WRONG, we can all do it.

So the take-a-way from this is, for anybody who reads down this far, just go out and try. If you fail, that is how you learn. Remember, 99 % of the people out there think that you are so amazing, brave and brilliant.

I love to see and read anything that you post Fel. With friends like you online and the friends that I have here in Vancouver I am progressing fine.

    Thank You,

PS, If you ever find yourself up here please let me know. We have a hugely vibrant music and theatre community up here.

Thanks Fel for giving me most of your techniques. I really learned a lot from you. I'm still watching your channel. Watched them over and over again. I hope you post more videos if you have time. Thanks a lot!

    Fel ,

Thanks for all the voice instruction over the past couple of years. You are truly exceptional at teaching.

I see you as the type of person who will excel at just about anything you put your mind to. Your intense desire to be good, passion for your work and natural ability are a lethal combination!

    Thanks again.

Hi Fel, your willingness to share your knowledge in helping someone who asked the same question Ï hate my singing voice. Help!" started me to subscribe to you. You are gifted in syncing with us with our heartfelt questions about our vocals. It is always healthy to take a step back and review our life's course we are taking from time to time. May God continue to bless you with more gifts and may you continue to stay happy in all your endeavours. Love & Hugs

Hi Fel, You are truly adorable! You are also an amazing teacher who knows how to paint pictures when it comes to difficult concepts of teaching singing. As a music teacher I have used a lot of your ideas in my teaching which are creating great results. I, like you, wanted to be a singer and performer but never had the guts to do it. I am now 70 and I guess those dreams are gone. But I always want to improve my teaching technique. So thank you for everything and I wish you luck on your journey. (Am looking forward to hearing new insights of how to conquer one's fears and have the courage to go out and DO IT!!!!)

    Hi Fel,

It is so great to hear from you & that you are doing well.

Listening to how you couldn’t silence your “inner” voice any longer resonates so strongly with me because over the past few months my inner voice has been getting louder and louder and hearing about your journey thus far has made me stop, reflect and listen.

Patience is definitely not one of my strongest qualities too however, I have started actively practicing to “learn” on strengthening this quality. I also know that with my depression and anxiety, being patient does have its rewards in lightening the “load” allowing me to see things more clearly and calmly.

I decided that my goal for 2018 (note: not a resolution) is to listen to ME so I can unlock my true inner peace and happiness.

I wish you all the luck in the world and can’t wait to hear from you again.

Even though I have been hoping to hear from you with another round of warm up downloads featuring the "ZZZ-E/ZZZ-AH" (*hint hint* lol) It is still good to hear from you at all and now knowing and understanding the reason for your absence, I'm sure we can all agree that you gotta do you girl! And the more power to you. You deserve what you're striving for.

With your tips and teachings through your videos, courses, and downloads, I watch and listen and practice them daily. Not only have I gained the ability to sing with more confidence but my vocal range, flexibility, techniques, and just the overall quality of my voice have improved tremendously. I continue to work on my singing everyday and would not have made the incredible progess that I've made without your teachings.

Thank you for sharing your talent and your knowledge and delivering it in such a passionate and effective way. You truly are an inspiration. Though I wish you the best on your journey, I do hope you keep the teaching card in your back pocket.

P.S. Thank you for not limiting the comment box to a certain number of characters. ^_^ ?

    Dear Fel,
just wanted to wish you good luck and your journey and to say that I totally identify with you saying it's not about putting something out there that's asking for approval. It's about doing this out of love and with the purpose to share and connect. That is so true and I am discovering that for myself just now.
Sometimes I think even if I am not totally content with a song I might still put it out there because it might help brighten up somebody else's day or whatever. But then, I still have to be aware that at the end of the day it is me who has to be content with it so that I can deal with criticism better and it's easier for me to just say You know what, that's who I am and how I do things and I am not somebody else than myself and that is ok! It's taking a lot of time though to find and write those exact songs.
I haven't yet had enough time and leisure to start your Singing Transformation Course I signed up for but I am so sure that it will be of the biggest possible help once I feel it is the right time and urgency to get going and be able to keep at it! I have looked at many voice teachers on the web but you are such a great motivator and you make it all sound so easy and fun. And I am sure that as great a teacher you have been, as great an artist you are and will be in the future. Thanks for all your advice!

I am glad to hear you are ready to step out of your comfort zone Felicia, i know you are going to do well(I know it's not about going platinum or anything but you have a super infectious happiness about you. I can't imagine it not carrying over into whatever you decide to put out.) I can't speak for anyone else but having learned all I have, I "fel" like I know you as more than just an instructer. Whatever you do I will be a supporter. I also understand exactly how you feel. For the longest time I didn't share my music with people around me because I thought that if I wasn't putting up Beyoncé numbers they wouldn't like it are that I failed as a musician. After a lot of soul searching( going to Church( it helped a lot more than I thought lol) and just realizing music isn't numbers, it's a feeling and experience) I finally just started a soundcloud and told all my buds about it. I still haven't put up numbers like Beyoncé but it feels good to express myself. I put my soundcloud as my website lol and will also post it in this reply if you or anyone else wants to check it out. https://soundcloud.com/user-307874534/love-you-better But ya, be free and I wish the best for you. Also, I learned so much through your classes, you truly are an amazing teacher. God bless!

  • Lucy Raverat

Brilliant Fel its great that you are doing this, im an artist too, i do painting, and I have had a super 'successful ' career, which packed up and left me to start all over again , as you say its not about getting approval but about being true , and if that means disappearing into the void ( which is exactly what happens ) then how great is that ? I never did your course , I did Dhrupad Indian microtonal singing instead , this is my take on that https://soundcloud.com/lucyraverat/a-solitary-bird . lots of love ; lucy

  • Adam W.

Hi Felicia, Thank you for the personal note. It is hard to be yourself while serving so many others, but it is perfectly OK to say that you need to do what you need to do to be true to you. Everything else you do, whether it is for you or for others will suffer if you are not true to you. I, as many on this post, know this.

I am grateful to have found your material. It has been helpful and I do promise to actually get through it all... For what I have been able to review and apply, it has made me a better singer. Mission accomplished in my book. For that I thank you.

Best of all in your endeavors and please keep the material coming. I learn something new with each fragment of material.

    Thanks again!

    Adam W.

You go girl! You have been an amazing teacher. Honestly, I was a little bit skeptical when I found your channel because I was like "How can a YouTube channel help my voice?", but your videos on the channel and the belting crash coarse have truly improved my voice. Everyone comments on how much my voice has improved in the past couple months. Follow your dreams! Good luck to you as a singer! I know you'll do amazing!???

  • Natalie

Thank you for sharing all this. How genuine would you be as a voice finder and singing instructor if you would NOT go out there and live your art? it's why everybody is here to learn singing with you, because they have the exact same dreams, or maybe similar. But it's all about art and being yourself in what you do, i am sure. That's why we all want to find our voices. So it's the logical step for you, I believe. And makes you even more honest and true !!! Lot's of Love for your journey, and I always love to hear from you. Natalie

    • Demaron Bass

Also, it has always been my dream to learn to sing. You made that dream a reality. I can't thank you enough. It really means more to me than I can express. Now, it's time for your dream to come true. I know you can do it cause you're awesome! Looking forward to seeing where life takes you!

  • Melody D.

I'm so happy to hear you're beginning to find yourself! Seeing someone 100% in their element and doing what they love is one of the best feelings in the world for me. You are such a talented person and I can't wait to see you use those gifts in the (hopefully near) future!
It's been said, but I'll say it again....you are an amazing, fabulous, wonderful voice finder/teacher. Your techniques and tips have been the best thing for my voice ever! You also gave me the confidence and tips to help me find my belt voice, and the fact that I hadn't found it was holding me back from continuing in musical theatre. Your efforts have helped so many people, including me, and I wish you all the best in your future work!

  • shyma

    Hey Fel,

It was so strange seeing this video because it made me realise that you haven't been around for awhile but the thing is I do the exercises from Singing Transformation 5 or 6 times a week and so I hear your voice and see you all the time!

Anyway, I'm really happy that you're following your heart. And thanks to you that's what I'm doing too, as a singer/songwriter. You made singing simple. You made singing joyful. You gave me the tools not only for technique but also for confidence and self belief. Mind, body and soul as one.

So I just wanted to say a big thank you and let you know what a difference you made to my life. I look forward to seeing your new videos and hearing your new songs.

    Don't be a stranger.

    All the best,

  • Elly McDonald

Hi Felicia, I gotta say first up I'm relieved the singing tutorial content will remain available as I've been slow making use of it! But I totally hear what you're saying. Good luck. Go get 'em xxx

  • Cecilia Stanton

What a beautiful soul you are. I wish you all the best in this quest to be true to yourself and just know that you are so loved and admired by so many people whom you have helped. I count myself amongst those. Keep your light shining. With much love

  • Dee McSweeney

Hi Felicia! Look at all these folks who love you!!! That alone is an extraordinary testament to your character as a creative human being. I admire your storytelling skills and how you just connect with everyone. You can do whatever you want . . . . you could be a TV Program Host for something musical, you know. You have accomplished so much already! Don't forget that . . . you "had" to teach to get to the thought process you are currently at. All of us at some point in life feel like we go forward and backward consistently, wondering when we are ever going to reach the true light at the end of the tunnel. Learning who we are is a life-long process, with good surprises along the way. Good luck with everything. You've already prospered with everything you've done to date. I agree with you and the many others that have posted, not to go off course with one's dreams. Persistence, determination and tenacity are the keys to reaching one's dreams and goals. I just registered to be a volunteer singer for Sing For Hope. For those who have not heard of it check out http://www.singforhope.org. You will get to sing and also network with like-minded folks in the entertainment industry. I'd never heard of it. I stumbled upon it while I was walking through Port of Authority (New York City). I'm looking forward to making the lives of others better with my gift of voice. All the best to all Felicia's creative fans in 2018. God bless you. I wish you all continued success, peace of mind and many blessings in life.

  • Samantha

Hi, Felicia! I am so happy for you as you move on to your next adventure. You have been an inspiration to thousands of people and especially to me. Thank you so much for letting us spend time with you for a while. Good luck on your journey!!

  • Tricia Arcenas

Hey Fel! Thanks for continuing to share your journey and insights. It was great to hear from you and I'm so looking forward to what you'll be creating and sharing next. Take all the time you need. I totally relate to the struggles you've described. Sometimes I imagine it as paddling to catch a wave, that feeling that you're not moving though you are eventually getting to where you want to be. Happy new year! 🙂

  • Evelyn

Hi Fel, Happy new year. I was actually thinking about you the other day.
I think for each one of us, there comes a time when we have to draw back a bit and give time to ourselves. Evaluate who we are once again, where we are at, our authenticity and guess what it is healthy. So Kudos for you and in any case i think you are actually growing into something more, writing your own music, awesome.
That's part of the journey in life, there is always a time for a transition, and it is ok. You have given us so much, i am going to go back and take sometime and look at your videos for a refresher for me - so thank you, you still stand out as one of the greatest voice teachers i have never met face to face but i have met online and has impacted me.
So go for it, with every bit of you, i will so be looking forward to listening to your music.

    Much love

  • Dian Katz

We get you far more than you know. Most of us who follow you ARE performers and artists so we understand. I know I do. As a professional drum instructor for years, I know MOTHING beats perfoming and creating music. You go girl! Follow your heart and your calling! xoxo Dian

  • Mark Broadwell

Hello Fel, Or Felicia, if you prefer. I was at first startled by your email and video, thinking that something terrible had befell you (befell Fel.) After hearing of your current place in life, I can totally encourage, support and understand your decision and wanting to "move ahead (you GO girl!.)

I hope that you can still find time to video us and give us a few tips along the way. I have worked with a lot of voice teachers and, I must say, your style is so inspiring and motivational, like an old dear friend. Thank you for helping us all out so very much. I mean, VERY much

We will support you in your future endeavors and hope to be able to cheer you along the way (and shout out to you, now and again.)

Best of luck and sincerest best wishes to you and all that you do.

    Mark Broadwell

  • Nandita

Hey Felicia, I think I know what you are saying. I am scared to enter any deeper into finding myself. I am sure you have gone there and feel good too and that sounds very gr8!! As even then you feel like creating some thing amazing. Do help others as how you have been helped. I know you are doing your bst?.... good luck!

  • Faith Chapman

I'm an artist too, so it's really helpful to hear you say something like this. As I've considered what to do with my life now that I'm taking a break from school, I've started going down a couple paths that really haven't felt like me, I guess. I respect your decision and it's helping me reconsider what I want to do. I try to learn as much as I can through following by example, and although I know it's impossible to get everything right on the first try, hearing this has encouraged me to focus more on my art and less on getting approval.

Love you, and thanks for all the work you've shared so far. 🙂

  • Neil

    Hi guys
For purchasing the belt your face off $97 singing course
Can someone please help me out with filling out the card number information under the payments tab
I have tried filling it out in the mm/yy cvc format, but it keeps on saying "your card number is incomplete" when I try proceeding
    Could anyone help :D?

  • Tania Dedova

He-he, hundreds of replies! We love you, Fel. You are so true, even in being scared or revealing that part of you was asking for validation. Your honesty inspires me! I can relate so much. I think it's a next HUGE chapter in Singing Transformation! Each of us needs to dig deeper and stop finding reasonable excuses of NOT to sing, even such a mighty excuse as to teach others. My excuses are so much less reasonable. Go Fel! Pave the way!

  • Jenny Rokeach

Fel, I totally love you as a person, teacher and I can't wait, but will wait with patience, to hear you as a singer. I'm so afraid to sing. The voice is surely a very complicated instrument. Xoxo jenny
